One Dress Campaign

      I don't have a daughter. The Lord did know exactly what He was doing when He gave me boys. However, one day I hope to have daughter-ins! I have prayed for them since PT and ND were born. 


     And this is the type of daughter-in-law I would love to love!  Meet Amy Seiffert.

    I briefly saw her story on the local news the other night.  I didn' t catch the whole story, but I had to know more.  I went to the local tv website and watched the story again. Wow!!! What a heart!  After visiting her blog and viewing the news story several times, I've decided everyone should hear about this amazing young woman! See Video from KTBS 3-

     I was convicted that I need to be more like her-  perhaps all of us should.  As I teach the virtue "KINDNESS" for the month of February at church and school, I am ashamed.  How am I showing "kindness"? Do I practice what I preach? Or am I too worried what someone else might think of me?  I want that FEARLESS KINDNESS!

     Amy has FEARLESS KINDNESS!!! She is more worried about others, than herself.  How would my world change if I practiced FEARLESS KINDNESS? What would our world be like if more Christians had FEARLESS KINDNESS?!  I am certain it would have a lasting impact on this life and eternity. 

     One of the photos on Amy's blog is of her holding a cardboard sign that says "Micah 6:8". That verse simply says, "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."  

      FEARLESS KINDNESS!   It's not easy, but required. And it's certainly possible with the help of the King.  Happy Valentine's Day!

Giving God the Glory

     I'm not one to brag on my kids.  (They usually don't lack in the area of self-confidence.)  So today I'm not bragging on my kid, and I'm certainly not bragging on our parenting skills. (Ronnie's and mine)  I'm bragging on what God can do.  He can take imperfect lives and use them for His glory.  We make choices daily, and no one in this family makes all the right choices each day.  However, we know who (the Lord) to seek and where to go (the Bible) to find answers for our day to day lives.  Again, it's our choice to choose Him.

    James 1:17 says, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

     Anything good that happens to me is from Him.  I am not good, but He is!  And I am very thankful and truly blessed!!!  I also believe that God has put the most wonderful educators, coaches, church family, church leaders, even daycare teachers, and godly friends in PT's path, which is truly an answer to prayer.   

      When PT was about four he  was sitting with one of my former co-workers, Bonida Huggins, at an event at my school.  After singing the Star-Spangled Banner, he turned to her and asked when would the ballgame begin. YIKES!!!  So in Kindergarten I wrote PT a poem (also recited by ND) just so he would start to understand that there was a little more to life than sports. (A difficult task for both of my children.) Ironically, it was entitled "Big Plans".

                         "Big Plans"
                 You may think I'm a little kid,
                 Someone with no plans at all-
                But I've got plans, BIG PLANS!
                I want to play Professional Baseball!
                Or be a doctor, or be a lawyer,
                Or maybe President!
                 I'm just a little kid, with Big Plans-
                 I know I'll be a hit!   ~by dc

Both boys did a great job reciting the silly poem, and looked pretty cute dressed in a red, white, and blue baseball uniform.  Those were fun times.  How funny it is to see the title of the article about PT today includes the words, "Big Plans".  Another gift sent from above ~ how else could I explain it?

     But before I post this link, I am reminded of a very important verse quoted by my mother time and time again.  Luke 12:48b says, "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."
